Sussex Zone Officers

President: Mr. T. Munday. Chairman: Mr. S. Hughes. Secretary: Mr. G. Brooker. Treasurer: Mrs. M. Roberts.

Welcome to the on line home of colour canaries in Sussex.

2007 saw Sussex hold its first 'stand alone' young stock show and an entry of 204 birds justified the decision to move this event away from being held in conjunction with other local shows . We can never be accused of standing still and Alan Mason has already been booked as the Judge for the 2008 YSS.

We also introduced small photo sized winning certificates during the 2007 season and these proved to be popular with exhibitors ,as they can be kept in the bird book or put in a frame ,  whilst there were a few teething problems we shall look to develope these certificates in time for the 2008 season.

Catering at our YSS and our Annual Open Show has beem improved and thanks to the tireless work of Freda Almond in the Kitchen we were able to move away from bought in fish and chips and offer exhibitors a home cooked hot meal , another innovation that proved popular with visitors to our Zone.

Once again we have Bob Bridle to thank for the show photography and his photographs can be found on various pages throughout the site.

Our highest ever entry of 300 at the Annual show proves that Sussex is now firmly established on the exhibition calander and our warmest thanks go to those exhibitors who help to make our shows such a success , and we look forward to welcoming friends , old and new , back next year.

The Sussex Zone , with another first , have formed a working relationship with Country Wide Seeds www.aejames.com and are able to offer members good quality seed at discounted prices . Why not contact us with your seed requirements and see just how much you can save? A word of thanks here to Alan Scott for acting as liason with Country Wide and to Kevin Murphy who will store and distribute the seed , with many Sussex Zone members already using Country Wide seeds we can testify to its quality .

Sussex Zone Message Board

Sometimes 'new' and 'different' is not always best. We tried a new stlye forum but  have listerned to members concerns that they did not enjoy using it as much as the previous instant message board. It is important to us that you enjoy your visits to the Sussex Zone and we take every step to achieve this so we are pleased to inform you all that we have now re- installed an instant message board .  We are told that many people read the message board but as yet do not 'join in' --why? it is open to all and we want to hear from you !!
